Mid Wilshire

Mid Wilshire is a varied, historic community. You can find the Miracle Mile within its limits, a long stretch of Wilshire Boulevard lined with museums and other buildings dedicated to the arts, such as the Writer’s Guild of America. This is the cultural hub within Mid Wilshire. The neighborhood also features the historic Oxford Square, which is actually a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone because of its architecture. Many of the homes in this neighborhood were built between the 1900’s and the 1930’s and are physical manifestations of classic architecture. That’s why the city of Los Angeles is striving to protect the history of the neighborhood.

It’s easy to find something to do in Mid Wilshire. Beyond visiting museums, the community boasts a varied collection of food and drink, from classic hamburgers to the restaurants of Little Ethiopia. Whether you want great value out of your meal or luxury dining, you’ll find a place to suit your needs. As for nightlife, Mid Wilshire has what you need. If you’re a music fanatic, always looking to discover the next big band, the El Rey Theatre is the place to be. Built in 1936, the venue was originally a movie theatre and served that purpose until 1994. While repurposed as a music venue, it maintains its art deco style to offer a venue unlike any other.

Nightlife is booming in Mid Wilshire. Several clubs dot the neighborhood for the dancers while those looking for a more relaxed evening can find their new favorite bar.
